Manufacturers, importers and exporters must comply with the GCC standards adopted by ministerial decision, and the label must give the name and address of the manufacturer or packing factory and the country of origin.
Labels follow GSO 9/2013 and GSO 2233. Labelling must be in Arabic, any other language must sit alongside it and match it exactly, and the label must give the product name, ingredients with allergens, nutrition data (carbohydrates, fats, protein, dietary fibre, energy), net contents, date marking and storage instructions.
Nutrition and health claims must follow GSO 2333 and its permitted-claims list. Claims must be provable and must not mislead, and terms such as 'healthy', 'wholesome' or 'sound' must not be used.
